The workshop/atelier/gallerie Hoedie is the spot where the creator/artist Marcellus Hoedemaker called Hoedy/Hoedie/Hoody has found himself at home in the little village of Vence.

Hoedie was born in Amsterdam on the 24th of august 1960 where upon he explored, during his first 9 years, the many fields of apple trees which surrounded the city of Utrecht . There nature, with all his colors and facets, has left behind a permanent impression.

As a child of an artistic mother he made an early start with designing and has been developing it in the course of years. The death of his mother brought about that he moved to Switzerland The great mountain space, the changes of the seasons and wild nature have joined themselves here beside his impressions of the flat landscape of the Netherlands.

By his return to Amsterdam, the sport and students live as well as the real way of live, especially in business, took up his participation. As a son of a race merchant he therefore ended up, after some rotations, in the world of real estate. Art has however always played up. After he took over the agency in 1997, where he had to put in the full 100% working spirit, he nevertheless put himself to follow painting lessons. For him a logical choice to take care that one remains open minded and not lost in work. During the next three years he took lessons, with a good friend, of the renowned artist Bert van Zelm. A inspirator pure sang. Now resident in Barcelona and still exposing.

In advance and during these years he painted mainly in the parental house in Vence at the Côte d’Azur where he took possession of the splendor of colors and its famous blue sky. Hoedie est né à Amsterdam à 24 août 1960, après qu’ il a exploré pendant 9 ans les quoi des pommeraies autour d`Utrecht. Ici, la nature avec ses multiple couleurs et facettes lui a laissé une empreinte permanente.

A grâce de sa mère, elle-même artiste, l’enfant a développé très tôt son sens du dessin qui a cesse de s’améliorer au fils des ans. Suite au décès de sa mère il déménagés vers la Suisse. Les panoramas grandioses des montagnes, les changements des saison et la nature environnante ont enrichi sa vision au à côté des impressions laissées par les paysages plats des Pays-Bas.

De retour á Amsterdam, il se jette a corps dans la pratique des sports sans pour autant négliger ses études. Il est arrivé a un tournant de sa vie. Tout en étant confronté aux urgences de la vie réelle et tout particulièrement au monde des affaires. En tant que descendant de négociant, après diverses expériences professionnelles, il trouve sa voie dans le monde de l’immobilier. L`art, toutefois, est une constante de sa vie.

En 1997, il achète l’agence dans laquelle il s’implique totalement sans pour autant se priver de leçons de peintures. C’était le choix logique pour lui permettre de rester ouvert et ne pas s’enfermer uniquement dans le travail.
Les trois années suivantes, il a suivre les cours avec un bon ami, auprès de leur mentor le célèbre artiste Bert van Zelm. Ce peintre réside actuellement à Barcelone ou il expose.

Durant toutes ses années il a peint principalement dans la maison de ses parents qui vivent a Vence sur la côte d’Azur. Grace de cette région, il a pu découvrir de nouvelles couleurs et luminosités du ce ciel. Pour cette raison dans ses travaux la nature et les couleurs vibrantes ont part majeure dans son œuvre. L`éruption constante de ses idées lui permette de créer des symphonies de couleur qui s`apparentent au travail de Van Gogh, Chagall, Matisse et Renoir mais aussi a celui des peintres modernes.

Toute fois il ne néglige pas l`utilisation des supports les plus varies ainsi que des techniques innovatrices des créateurs comme Niki le Saint Phalle et Yves Klein mais aussi Claude Vaillat ou Manolo Valdes.

L`atelier Hoedie est situé au cœur du centre historique du village de Vence sur la côte d`Azur ou excisent d`autres artistes locaux, contrairement a Saint Paul de Vence ou sont exposes principalement les œuvres d’artistes non résidents. Il habite maintenant en permanence à Vence avec sa femme et leurs 3 enfants.

Atelier Hoedie is de plek waar de createur/kunstenaar Marcellus Hoedemaker genaamd Hoedie zijn atelier aan de Côte d`Azur heeft geopend.

Hoedie is geboren in Amsterdam op 24 augustus 1960 waarna hij gedurende zijn eerste 9 levensjaren de appelboomgaarden rondom Utrecht heeft verkend. De natuur met al zijn kleuren en facetten heeft daar een blijvende indruk gemaakt.

Door een kunstzinnige moeder is hij vroeg met tekenen begonnen hetgeen hij in de loop der jaren verder uitbouwde. Mede door het wegvallen van zijn moeder verhuisde hij op jonge leeftijd naar Zwitserland. De weidsheid van het berglandschap, de abrupte wisselingen van de jaartijden en ongerepte natuur hebben zich hier naast de mooie luchten met stapelwolken, het platteland en het waterlandschap gevoegd.

Terug in Amsterdam kwam hij in aanraking met het sport-, het studenten- en het zakenleven. Als zoon van een ras koopman belandde hij na enkele omzwervingen via de reclame en filmproductie in de vastgoedmakelaardij. Het creatieve heeft hij echter nooit losgelaten. Nadat hij in 1997 het makelaarskantoor overnam en zich hiervoor 100% moest inzetten nam hij toch daarnaast schilderlessen. Een voor hem logische keuze om ervoor te zorgen dat men open van geest blijft en niet verzandt in het werk.

De daaropvolgende drie jaar kreeg hij les, tezamen met een goede vriend, van de vermaarde kunstenaar Bert van Zelm, nu woonachtig in Barcelona en aldaar exposerend. Dit was zijn eerste inspirator pure sang en motivator om er vooral mee door te gaan.

Al deze jaren schilderde hij voornamelijk in het familiehuis in Vence aan de Côte d’Azur. Daar nam hij de heldere kleuren pracht en het fameuze licht van de "ciel bleu" tot zich. De natuur en overwegend primaire kleuren zijn daarom belangrijke elementen in zijn werken. Het spelen met kleuren, zoals de grootmeesters van het impressionisme hem voordeden, een uitdaging. Het creëren van ideeën een voortlopend proces. U zult derhalve in zijn werk een combinatie vanuit het impressionisme aangevuld met de moderne kunstrichtingen en technieken terug vinden. Inspiratie bron voor hem als createur/kunstenaar zijn naast de jonge kunstenaars ook gevestigde namen als Niki de Saint Phalle en Yves Klein maar ook Claude Vaillat en Manolo Valdes.

Het atelier is gelegen in het historische centrum van het Stadje Vence aan de Côte d’Azur. Hier vindt men naast enkele galeries veel ateliers van praktiserende kunstenaars.
